Lindsay Lohan to Star in The Canyons

Despite crashing her car and lying to police, Lindsay Lohan's career has yet to crash and burn. The hot mess just landed another movie role!

Currently starring as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick, Lohan has also been booked for The Canyons, a contemporary thriller, according to E!

The film will document "five twentysomethings' quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood" and is written by Bret Easton Ellis.

It was Ellis himself who first broke news of Lindsay Lohan's casting on Twitter, along with that of her leading man ... porn star James Deen.

"James Deen and Lindsay Lohan have been cast in The Canyons," he wrote in the first of a series of tweets retweeted by Lindsay herself.

"And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in The Canyons by BEE."

"Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it."

That's what the guy driving the 18-wheeler said. Too soon?

Anyway, her camp says that while she got the role and agreed to it, her lawyers are still working out the details, so it's not quite a done deal.

Provided she stays out of jail, she's excited in any case.

"The appeal of this role for Lindsay is getting to work with Paul Schrader," a source said of the writer-director of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.

Shooting on the film takes place in Los Angeles from July 9-31.

Police are still investigating Lohan's Friday crash on the Pacific Coast Highway, after which she initially claimed her assistant was driving.
