First team

Infielders

? Trent Bowers
Plano (Jr.)
The big thumper was the Reapers? biggest threat all year, hitting .422 with 10 doubles and four home runs. He drove in 34 runs and scored 14, pounding out 43 hits along the way.

? Tom Fox
Kaneland (Sr.)
Fox was consistently solid for the Knights all spring, hitting a team-high .374 with 15 doubles and two home runs. He drove in 26 runs, scored 20 and stole 11 bases.

? Josh Haugen
Aurora Christian (Sr.)
Haugen was arguably the top hitter in the area this spring, hitting .475 with 11 doubles and four home runs while manning the shortstop position for the Eagles. He scored 41 runs and drove in 36 while posting an impressive 1.320 OPS.

? Danny Heerhold
Somonauk (Sr.)
Heerhold wreaked havoc on the basepaths all spring. He hit .406, which helped him score 41 runs and steal 31 bases. He also drove in 30 runs for the Bobcats.

? Kenny Obendorf
Metea Valley (Sr.)
Obendorf wrapped up his impressive multi-sport career at Metea by leading the team with a .407 average. He played a solid shortstop and also contributed on the mound. Obendorf drove in 24 runs and scored 25, rapping 50 hits.

Pitchers

? Bobby Kuntzendorf
Aurora Christian (Sr.)

The two-time Beacon Player of the Year was the best around, going 10-1 with a 1.44 ERA and 0.77 WHIP. In 63 1/3 innings, Kuntzendorf struck out 117 and walked only 25. In his three varsity seasons, he went 24-4. He was also one of the best hitters in the area, hitting .365 with eight doubles and six home runs. He scored 30 runs and drove in 33. Kuntzendorf is committed to Northern Illinois.

? Troy Fumagalli
Waubonsie Valley (Jr.)

Fumagalli burst on the scene as a junior with a 6-1 record, 1.66 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. In 46 1/3 innings, he allowed 44 hits, walked 16 and struck out 47 while emerging as the Warriors? ace.

? Andy Honiotes
Geneva (Jr.)

Honiotes was a huge reason for the Vikings? success this spring, going 7-0 with a sparkling 1.01 ERA. In 48 1/3 innings, Honiotes struck out an impressive 70 batters.

? Matt Miller
Aurora Central Catholic (Jr.)

Miller was the Chargers? ace. His 6-5 record was deceiving, as he posted a 1.75 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. In 56 innings, he struck out 70 and walked only 18, allowing only 42 hits.

? Matt Schultz
Oswego East (Sr.)

The Auburn recruit was dominant in his only full season of high school ball, despite a 1-6 record. Schultz set a program record with 90 strikeouts in 49 innings. He had a 2.14 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, allowing only 34 hits and walking only 15.

Outfielders

? Matt Brandys
Geneva (Sr.):

Brandys made a huge impact in his only season with the Vikings after transferring from Wheaton Academy. Brandys hit .451 with 12 doubles and 30 RBI.

? A.J. Friedman
Marmion (Sr.)

Friedman was a consistent force for the Cadets, hitting .356 with a .933 OPS. He drove in 24 runs and scored 23 runs with six doubles among his 32 hits. Friedman also stole eight bases.

? Matt Williams
Geneva (Sr.)

The Northern Illinois quarterback recruit finished off his baseball career in style. Williams led the area with 10 home runs and 49 RBI, hitting .392. He also had six saves as a dominating closer for the Vikings. Williams helped lead the Vikings to their first No. 1 sectional seed.

Catcher

? Jake Hanson
Aurora Christian (Sr.)

The Valparaiso recruit was one of the key cogs to an Eagles squad that won a regional title. He hit .444 with 18 doubles and four home runs, scoring 30 runs and driving in 32. He also won a game and saved three on the mound.
