Before they strode down the red carpet that was set up to transform Greenwich Avenue into a catwalk, models had a chance to show off their outfits and their smiles to the Post.

Rain clouds grew dark and thunder rumbled, but nothing was going to stop people strutting their stuff on the catwalk as Greenwich Avenue was home last Thursday to mark Fashion on the Avenue.
An offshoot of the popular Fashion?s Night Out held in past years on Greenwich Avenue, the event featured a red carpet rolled down the heart of the central business district to allow for models to show off the very best and most creative clothes from local retailers and designers. As it has been in the past, the effort was spearheaded by Saks Fifth Avenue?s Greenwich Avenue location and, despite the weather, bigger than ever.
More than 80 models of all ages took part in the show and a luxury car presentation from Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich was also part of the event, which was co-sponsored by local businesses and organizations like Equinox, the First Bank of Greenwich and the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce.
The weather threatened, but did not disrupt the fashion show and, just in time for the rain to fall, it was time for the indoor festivities as several local businesses on the Avenue invited guests in for refreshments, music and a chance to see what they had to offer.
Selectman David Theis was one of the models who did a turn on the catwalk, showing off some of what?s for sale at Vineyard Vines. First Selectman Peter Tesei declined the chance to do the same, but did appear to congratulate Geri Corrigan, director of marketing for Saks? Greenwich location, and everyone else for all their hard work.
?This is a wonderful opportunity for Greenwich to show off the very finest in fashion and all the accoutrements that go with an active lifestyle,? Mr. Tesei said.
