A lot of companies have to deal with the challenges of high operational costs and increasing the productivity of every aspects of their business. Finding ways on how to minimize the cost of operations without sacrificing the quality of their offered goods and services is a priority for them.

To maintain their relevance in the market and to maintain market shares, companies opt for business process outsourcing. Areas of business which are not contributing to the bottom line yet require a lot of time and attention should be considered for outsourcing.

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is the process of hiring workers from another company to do specialized jobs on your behalf. It has been around for decades but not on a larger scale as today. Primarily there are two types of BPO:

Back Office
It focuses more managing expenses and increasing the productivity of internal business functions such as human resources, finance and accounting, transcription, software development, website designing, search engine optimization (SEO), animation, data entry, research, and branding.

Front Office
It deals with direct communication to the customers. The essential communication tools are telephones, e-mails, internet, fax, etc.

Offshore BPO workers are specially-trained for their designated jobs. BPO companies usually select highly-qualified workers who are able to meet their clients? standards. These workers are adept to shifting schedules, tight deadlines, and upgrading their skills in the shortest possible time. Of course, clients pay less for them especially if they come from countries with low-wage rates like Brazil, China, India, Russia, and the Philippines.

Some skeptics regard offshore outsourcing as a form of exploitation, wherein Western countries take advantage of the economics. In reality, BPO companies abide by their countries? laws and see to it that their workers are well-compensated with benefits (such as health insurance and allowances). They may receive lesser salary than their Western counterparts but what they earn is more than their own country?s minimum wage. In short, outsourcing is a win-win situation for the client company, the BPO company and its employees.

BPO companies are able to deliver their services faster and more efficiently since their workers only concentrate on their clients? tasks. This frees up the time of client companies and allows them to improve on the main aspects of their trade. They are able to maximize their own profit without sacrificing the quality of their products and/or services.
