Obama to unleash inner funnyman at Gridiron dinner

WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama will unleash his inner funnyman when he joins political leaders and foes, journalists who cover them and media executives for a night of bipartisan satire at the 128th annual Gridiron Club and Foundation dinner.

The annual winter tradition features musical skits lampooning Republicans and Democrats.

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar was speaking for the Democrats and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal was the Republicans' headliner.

Obama also was to make light-hearted remarks during Saturday's event at a Washington hotel. He skipped it last year.

Except for Grover Cleveland, every president since the Gridiron was founded in 1885 has addressed it. The club is the oldest and most exclusive for Washington journalists. Its motto is "singe but never burn."

The event is for public consumption, but TV coverage is prohibited.
