10 Great Baby Shower Gifts by Beauty Shop

10 Great Baby Shower Gifts

Baby showers are traditionally held for the first time mum and close to her due date. A new baby needs a lot of new equipment. Having a baby shower can help her out as prams, cots and all the other paraphernalia can cost a small fortune. With buying maternity wear no longer a focus, setting up for her new baby is now her goal, and baby shower gifts can help her achieve the perfect nursery.

A new mum will undoubtedly want to buy the big items for herself. Choosing a cot,a car seat and a pram are decisions she will want to make and are things that need to be just right for her. Some great baby shower gifts include:

Baby sling

Baby slings are an absolute life saver and are wonderful for a new baby as they are carried close to their mother?s or father?s, and they feel warm and secure. It is also great because it leaves your hands free. Whether you wear it up the street while shopping or around the house, it means you can have your baby with you but still get on with everything you need to do.

Bouncer

Babies love bouncers because they can lie propped up on an angle and see what?s going on around them. They vary from simple wire frames with stretchy material pulled over them, to battery powered models that vibrate or rock and have toys positioned on them for baby to play with. Handy to safely leave the baby in when you need to get a few things done, and good entertainment for the baby, as well as being a place to feed them when they first start eating solids.

Baby Monitor

Monitors are great for first time parents, who tend to be a little more nervous. If the baby sleeps in a separate room you are able to hear every noise it makes. Many have various functions, such as being able to talk to your baby through it, switch on music in the babies room from your end of the monitor, and some even have sensors to detect your babies breathing.

Activity Mat

During the babies early stages of development an activity mat is fantastic, especially when they can only lie on their backs. They generally consist of a padded mat and an arch they lie under, with toys dangling from it, which are just within their grasp. These help the development of their gross motor skills and keep them entertained.

Nappy Bag

A nappy bag is a necessity as every parent leaving the house with a baby will soon discover. Nappies, wipes, bottles, nappy disposal bags, tissues, changes of clothes ? the list goes on. A good sized bag with plenty of pockets and a travel mat makes a great gift.

Children?s Library

Books are a treasure to keep forever, and starting a collection for a new baby is a lovely gift. Beautiful copies of classic children?s stories are available in hard cover volumes with gorgeous illustrations which the child will hopefully keep forever.

Parent?s Library

A new parent brings home their new baby and suddenly discovers they don?t come with an instruction manual. Advice will come from all directions but it is always helpful to have a good reference book. There are many baby books available that cover everything, from what to expect during pregnancy, right through what can occur once you get baby home. A first aid book is also a good idea.

Bath Products

A collection of baby bath products is a lovely gift. Include a baby shampoo, soap or body wash, a flannel, a towel and maybe a soft baby brush. There are beautiful natural products available that are perfect for a baby?s sensitive skin.

Bedding

It is likely that a new mum will want to pick out bedding herself as it sets the tone for the nursery, but she will definitely need a change of linen. Buy something neutral if you don?t know if it?s a boy or girl, or perhaps, if you can sew, make a cot quilt yourself.

Dinner

Something any new mum will appreciate is dinner being brought around after the baby is born. Otherwise cook a few casseroles and other meals in advance that can be easily frozen and defrosted when she needs them.
