Tropical Storm Karen is currently located 350 miles south, southwest of Mobile, Alabama. The hurricane watch for the area has been suspended and replaced with a tropical storm watch.
The tropical storm watch extends from Mobile County and Baldwin County to Escambia County, Santa Rosa County and Okaloosa County in Florida.
The watch applies to all bays and sounds in the coastal Alabama and Florida areas and Gulf waters from Destin, Florida to Pascagoula, Mississippi.
The storm is moving at 7 mph and the storm intensity is currently 50 mph.?
The storm is currently expected to make landfall in the southwest area of the Florida panhandle on Sunday afternoon producing 2-3 feet of storm surge from the Mississippi/Alabama border to the Florida coastline.
Approximately 2-3 feet inundation may occur from Mississippi coastal areas to Florida coastal areas.
Rain totals of 4-5 inches with chances of 6 in certain areas are possible along with wind gusts reaching 45-50 mph starting early Sunday.
The National Weather Service warns that south of I-10, tree and power line damage is likely to occur and precautions should be taken to secure loose belongings.?
