PLANT CITY ? The annual Plant City Christmas Parade doesn?t come together overnight, so organizers are already busy lining up floats and sponsors.
The parade will march its way through downtown at 7 p.m. Dec. 6. It?s always one of the earliest Christmas parades in the region and helps herald in the holiday season.
?It will be here before you know it,? said Sharon Moody, who is on the parade committee.
?Celebrate the Season? will be the theme of this year?s parade, which has been held for three decades.
The committee needs businesses as sponsors to help with such costs as floats for schools that can?t afford them without financial help, she said. The sponsors get their names on the floats in return, she said.
Also, applications for groups interested in having a float in the parade are available at the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, 106 N. Evers St. About 20 applications have been received so far, and parade organizers hope to top last year?s 100 unit-procession, Moody said.
The parade route will follow its traditional route, forming at Collins and Alsobrook streets, traveling north on Collins, turning east on Reynolds Street and ending at the courthouse.
