Telus launching Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Mega in Canada on October 4

New phablets hit Canada through Telus

Canadians interested in Samsung's most recently revealed tech can get their hands on the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear at the beginning of next month. Canadian carrier Telus confirmed to Engadget on Sunday that the two gadgets will launch on its network on October 4. The other major Canadian carriers have given no indication on when customers can expect to see those devices, though observers note they are likely to follow soon after.

The Galaxy Note 3 manages to pack a larger display into the same footprint as the Galaxy Note 2, but the device winds up both thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The device comes in two variations: one with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800, and another with a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa processor. It packs 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, and a 13MP BSI sensor with LED flash. All this is powered by a 3,200mAh battery that provides significantly longer battery life than the Galaxy Note 2.

The Galaxy Gear arguably made the bigger splash last week when it debuted alongside the Galaxy Note 3. Samsung's new smartwatch is built to complement the existing line of Galaxy Android devices. It already has an app library specially built for it, and its battery life is rated at about a full day of use. The smartwatch will retail for roughly $300 when it goes on sale.
