Over the past few ?months I?ve enjoyed trying a lot of ?new in the kitchen?. Some of the ?new? was provided by sponsors and some I purchased. Some of the products I will use regularly and a few things I will never buy again and would not recommend.
When considering trying new things I look for (or as close as possible):
Protein Plus Peanut Flour. A protein packed alternative to wheat flour.
I was introduced to Peanut Flour by Kasey at Powercakes.net. This is a new-to-me favorite. 16g of protein in one 1/4 cup serving! Think large bag of PB2. I?ve used it for baking, protein frosting, and dressings.
Millet. An alternative to Quinoa.
Millet was an ingredient in a recipe that I tried last week and I wasn?t even sure I knew what it was. What is millet? Most commonly known as the main ingredient in bird seed (definitely didn?t know that) is an overlooked grain, mildly sweet and nutty and so versatile it can be used in everything from pilafs to cookies. It worked wonderfully in the recipe!
Coconut Sugar. An alternative to refined sugar.
A natural sweetener that?contains several important nutrients and may reduce blood sugar spikes compared to regular table sugar. I haven?t really noticed a difference in taste but it?s a healthier alternative that has worked well in the recipes I?ve tried so far.
KIND. My favorite snack bar.
KIND Snacks offered me the chance to try their 2 newest nuts & spices bars. I?ve been a big fan of KIND bars for a long time so I was happy to try their new flavors. Protein, all natural, non GMO, no added sugar and the health benefits of nuts. Yes! Add the fact that there are now low sugar options.
If I had to pick one snack bar it would be KIND.
My favorite of the 2 new low sugar bars, Dark Chocolate Chili Almond and Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt.
Flap Jacked. My last new favorite in the kitchen.?
I love pancakes! But, I don?t eat them because they?re heavy and make me feel ?ugh? afterwards. That wasn?t the case with Flap Jacked. Topped with fresh strawberries was my favorite! Another product that meets the New In the Kitchen criteria and even better, as it turns out, a new product that is a healthy alternative that my 2 teenage kids will eat. That is no easy feat!
My son?s Flap Jacked of choice, Apple Cinnamon topped with the classic, butter and warm maple syrup.
Even better than the pancakes, my Flap Jacked of choice was using the Banana Hazelnut mix for muffin tops. Try topping it with warm nut butter! Yum! And a bonus, the muffin tops turned out to be a snack my kids love. You can find the recipe for the muffin tops here >> Banana Chip Muffin Tops
Products provided for review by NuNaturals, KIND Snacks and Flap Jacked. As always, all opinions are my own.
