RICHMOND ? For a second consecutive season, the Washington Redskins rank third on Forbes? list of most valuable NFL franchises, which was released on Wednesday.
The Dallas Cowboys again rank first at an estimated value of $2.3 billion, followed by the New England Patriots at $1.8 billion. According to Forbes, the Redskins are worth $1.7 billion. The New York Giants rank fourth on the list with a value of $1.5 billion, and the Houston Texans round out the top five at $1.45 billion.

The Redskins ranked third-most valuable last season as well, and were listed at a worth $1.64 billion, meaning that although their ranking didn?t improve, their value did in the last year.
The Redskins last season generated $381 million of revenue and had an operating income of $104.3 million. Dallas? revenue for 2012 was $539 million, and the Cowboys? operating income was $250.7 million, according to Forbes. The Patriots generated $408 million in revenue and had an operating income of $139.2 million.
